Chinese examination

Chinese examination never failed to attract the attention of the public since the day it had come onto the historical stage. For thousands of years, it has acted as a tool to select useful students for the country. Limitless people spent their lifetime struggling to go across the narrow bridge and dreamed of putting their feet on that upper land. However, the successful ones occupied only a minor percentage. Such is human nature that everyone will try his best to be rich and respectable. But the deepest root that examination can share such unbelievable significance at that time is that it was the only access to achieve money, respect and social status.

However, Chinese examination system, to some aspects, is actually a failure. It greatly kills the creativities of our children. The growing young generation, which carries the whole country’s hope, was lovely and rich of strange ideas in the childhood. But when grown up under an unhealthy system, these children have been completely diverted into boring, characterless, less creative youngsters. The only thing in their mind is to get a good mark so as to get a Bachelor’s degree or even Master’s and Doctor’s. Few of them can draw, for they are lack of imagination.

Now, let’s turn to a well-known problem in university—cheating. It is no use to get the exact number of how many collegians has the experience to cheat in exams during their school time. What we must pay attention to is the deeper cause of the phenomenon. Yes, examination is the most important factor. We can out of the question to make the conclusion that cheating belong to moral area. But we, at the same time, cannot ignore the fact that this phenomenon is aroused by the fact that, to some extent, the students have no other choice if they are really lack of talent at some course.

Mechanical examination system also leads a bad effect on our country’s development. When graduated from university, our students are all experts at doing examine papers. How can such kind of talents have the ability to enhance china’s economical and political status in the world?

A thing with a long history is not always a thing reasonable existing. This is suitable to Chinese examination system. It’s not that the country must immediately conceal the system, but that we must take some tough measures to control its bad effect. Moreover, we still have a long distance on the way to find really suitable methods to evaluate the results of education.
